Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

ICSI was developed in the early 1990’s and involves using a very fine glass needle to inject a single sperm into an egg. Its development revolutionised the treatment of male infertility.

The procedure can be used in the following cases:

  • Low sperm numbers
  • Poor sperm motility
  • Poor sperm morphology
  • Surgically retrieved sperm samples
  • Previous cases of poor fertilisation with standard IVF
